Effective facial cleansing – a two-step method for daily care

Effective facial cleansing is the foundation upon which your entire daily skincare routine is built. A two-step method is the foundation of any professional routine, because a single-step cleanse simply isn't enough these days.

First step: Makeup removal oil or balm removes makeup, SPF and oily impurities that regular gel cannot dissolve.

Second step: Facial cleansing gel or emulsion It thoroughly cleanses the skin and prepares it to absorb active ingredients. Today, we'll focus on this second step.

Facial cleansing gel and facial cleansing emulsion – differences in their effect on the skin

The choice between a gel and an emulsion for facial cleansing is not accidental – different consistencies suit different skin needs and use preferences.

Gels are characterized by a lighter texture and greater cleansing power, while emulsions offer additional moisturizing properties, which can be beneficial for dry skin.

For Reset Gel, we opted for a light, gel-like consistency with a carefully thought-out composition that combines the benefits of both forms. The formula contains moisturizing and soothing ingredients that replace the potential aggressiveness typical of gels while maintaining their full effectiveness in removing impurities and excess sebum.

Gentle Surfactants in Facial Cleansing – Why Aggressiveness Doesn't Equal Effectiveness

The foundation of every cleanser is surfactants – substances that enable water to remove oily impurities. However, not all surfactants have the same effect on the skin. Traditional, aggressive cleansers can cleanse effectively, but they also disrupt the skin's natural protective barrier.

Why we choose gentle surfactants:

  • Preserves the skin's natural acid mantle (pH 5.5)
  • They do not disturb the hydrolipid barrier
  • They minimize the risk of irritation and allergies
  • They enable daily use without side effects
  • They cooperate with the skin's natural regenerative processes

Reset Gel uses plant-based surfactants that gently emulsify impurities without excessive degreasing or disturbing the skin's microbiological balance.

Reset Gel – how did we create a facial cleanser that works with the skin barrier?

The process of creating Reset Gel required striking a balance between cleansing effectiveness and respect for the skin's natural functions. Each ingredient was selected not only for its individual properties but also for its ability to work synergistically with the other components of the formula.

The key challenge was to create a product that would be effective enough to remove all impurities—from city dust to makeup residue—but also gentle enough to be used twice a day, year-round. Rue de Skin we achieved this goal!

Panthenol and aloe extract in the face gel – soothing cleansing without drying.

Panthenol, or provitamin B5, is one of the most valuable ingredients in regenerative cosmetology. Upon contact with skin, it transforms into pantothenic acid (the active form of vitamin B5), which actively supports repair processes and improves epidermal elasticity. In the cleansing formula, panthenol acts as a "buffer"—mitigating the potentially irritating effects of surfactants.

Aloe extract provides natural polysaccharides (complex carbohydrates) that create a delicate barrier on the skin's surface, preventing moisture loss. This mechanism is especially important for sensitive skin, which may experience discomfort or tightness after cleansing.

The combination of panthenol and aloe vera makes the skin comfortable after washing with Reset Gel and ready for the application of subsequent care products that require a cleansed base - like ours vitamin C serum.

Facial cleansing with plant ingredients – centella asiatica and cucumber

Asiatic pennywort, also known as Centella Asiatica, is a plant with documented anti-inflammatory and regenerative properties. In traditional Asian medicine, it has been used for centuries to treat wounds and skin inflammation. In modern cosmetology, it is valued for its triterpenoid content – active substances with anti-inflammatory and regenerative properties. They support collagen production and accelerate the healing of micro-injuries in the epidermis.

Cucumber extract It provides natural vitamins, enzymes, and trace elements that help refresh, soothe irritations, and gently cleanse. Known for its soothing and toning properties, it is a natural complement to more intensive regenerative therapies.

Post-treatment care gel – gentle cleansing after treatments

Reset Gel is the ideal solution for post-treatment care when skin requires a particularly gentle approach. After treatments such as microneedling, peels, or laser therapy, skin is more sensitive and prone to irritation. Centella asiatica in the gel supports natural regeneration processes, while cucumber extract soothes and cools irritated skin. Gentle plant-based surfactants effectively cleanse without disrupting the weakened skin barrier, which is crucial during recovery from aesthetic procedures.

Cleansing oily skin

Oily skin requires a special approach to cleansing. Paradoxically, overly aggressive products can lead to even more sebum production – the skin, deprived of natural protection, tries to quickly rebuild its lipid barrier by producing excess sebum. This is a vicious cycle that can lead to worsening skin condition.

Reset Gel interrupts this process with a carefully thought-out formula that removes excess sebum without disturbing the skin's natural balance. Soothing ingredients like allantoin and panthenol prevent the skin from experiencing cleansing as an aggression requiring immediate compensation. As a result, sebum production stabilizes at an optimal level, leaving the skin cleansed and prepared to absorb subsequent skincare products.

Why choose Reset Gel?

The iconic Centella asiatica in a new guise – anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, improves microcirculation, and prevents discoloration. A must-have RESET GEL in your regimen.

Properly cleansed skin absorbs active ingredients much better niacinamide serum, which translates into significantly better care results. The same applies to the application retinyl retinoate – the effectiveness of retinyl increases significantly when the skin is properly prepared to absorb it.
