ENLARGED PORES – HOW TO DEAL WITH THEM?

The image shows the face of a woman who is undergoing a cosmetic procedure. On the cheek of the woman's face, hands in white gloves can be seen holding a white pen and drawing something.

Enlarged pores are a common skin condition that can be minimized with proper skincare. Professional treatments are also a way to combat excessively visible pores, reducing sebum production and exfoliating the skin, smoothing the skin. Why do pores enlarge, and why is choosing the right cosmetics so important in reducing this effect?

What are enlarged pores?

First of all, it's important to remember that pores are a natural part of the skin. They are small openings that serve as outlets for hair follicles and sebaceous glands. It's through these openings that substances produced by these glands are released. Why are pores sometimes more enlarged and therefore visible? This is primarily due to the increased production of sebum, or sebum-producing substances. This is precisely why the problem enlarged pores, which look like small holes on the skin of the face, mainly affects women with oily skin and mixed.

In addition to skin type, pore dilation is also influenced by:

  • hormones and their disorders,
  • improper care,
  • improper diet,
  • vitamin deficiencies,
  • excessive exposure to solar radiation and climate change,
  • skin aging,
  • taking certain medications.

It's worth remembering that the tendency for pores to become excessively visible is also genetic. So, if your mother or grandmother struggled with enlarged pores, it's highly likely that you will too.

How to deal with enlarged pores at home?

You can effectively combat the problem of enlarged pores at home. A proper skincare routine and choosing the right cosmetics play a key role. Therefore, it's essential to remember a few rules that will help you maintain your skin's condition and minimize the appearance of pores.

  1. Thorough cleansing is the foundation of skin care for skin with visible pores. Dirt and sebum accumulate in the pores, causing them to become clogged and dilated. Therefore, never forget to remove your makeup in the evening, followed by washing your face with water and a carefully selected cosmetic.
  2. Choose your skincare products wisely, avoiding drying ones and those containing alcohol, because, paradoxically, dry skin produces more sebum. Remember to protect your hydrolipid barrier and exfoliate regularly and gently. This will remove dead skin cells and cleanse clogged pores.
  3. In cosmetics, look for niacinamide, which will seal the hydrolipid barrier, regulate glandular function and sebum production, and additionally have anti-inflammatory and antibacterial properties. AHA and BHA acids are also excellent ingredients for improving the appearance of skin with enlarged pores. However, it's essential to pay attention to their concentration, as is the case with niacinamide. It's also worth reaching for products that combine the necessary ingredients, so you don't burden your skin with too many creams, serums, and balms. An example is our serum with niacinamide and kojic and lactic acids., hyaluronic.

Diet and daily habits are also important, e.g., avoiding touching the face, using a separate towel dedicated to this part of the body, and regularly changing bed linen.

Professional treatments for enlarged pores

Daily routine care It's worth complementing your routine with professional cosmetic treatments that will help reduce the appearance of enlarged pores. Their goal is to cleanse the skin of sebum buildup, exfoliate dead skin cells, and regulate sebum production. Among the most popular treatments and those most frequently recommended by specialists are:

  • microdermabrasion, which aims to exfoliate the epidermis, stimulate skin repair processes and regulate sebum secretion;
  • chemical peels, i.e. treatments using acids of appropriate concentration, limiting and regulating the amount of sebum secretion and exfoliating the skin,
  • laser therapy, whose effect on enlarged pores is to stimulate cell regeneration and thus smooth the skin.

Although enlarged pores are a problem that most women and men struggle with, they still remain a source of serious insecurities. Remember, perfectly smooth, blemish-free skin simply doesn't exist. With proper care—niacinamide, acids, exfoliation—and treatments, you can minimize the appearance of enlarged pores and enjoy a healthy appearance.
